March 8, 2022, St. Louis, MO – EmpowerMe Wellness, a St. Louis-based integrated healthcare provider serving senior living communities nationwide, has completed the build-out of its new state-of-the-art diagnostics laboratory. This fully equipped lab is the first facility in the St. Louis region to feature the cutting-edge Atellica® Solution, a revolutionary chemistry and immunoassay analyzer with state-of-the-art sample management, from Siemens Healthineers. EmpowerMe has also partnered with Mayo Clinic, a world-renowned healthcare and research organization, to provide innovative supplemental testing and implement best practices in laboratory medicine.

A ribbon cutting celebration took place on Tuesday, March 8, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at EmpowerMe Wellness’ headquarters, located at 1335 Strassner Ave., Brentwood, MO 63144. Special guests included Missouri Governor Mike Parson, the company’s lead investors, Bob Hermann and Rick Holton of Hermann Companies and Jim McKelvey of Square, as well as an array of St. Louis business leaders and politicians.

“We are thrilled to increase access to such an important component of the health care continuum for seniors,” said Tyler Witges, President of EmpowerMe’s Diagnostic business unit. “This purpose-built laboratory enables senior living communities to improve health outcomes for their residents through early identification of healthcare needs and highly accurate results – with all services being provided by our team of passionate clinicians.”

Located adjacent to EmpowerMe’s corporate headquarters, the lab offers best-in-class diagnostics exclusively for residents of senior living communities. In addition to having the capacity to process 2 million samples and conduct 5.5 million tests annually, the lab can expedite blood test results within 24 to 48 hours for seniors served by EmpowerMe across the country. EmpowerMe has already hired more than 20 lab-based employees at its Brentwood headquarters in anticipation of the lab’s growth, including medical laboratory scientists and clinical laboratory assistants, as well as finance, technology, and other corporate leadership roles.

“Having a laboratory exclusively dedicated to serving the needs of seniors is a game changer, and it is consistent with our goal of transforming the senior care industry. This is just one example of how we are investing in advanced technologies to improve the lives of seniors nationwide,” said Josh Stevens, Founder and CEO of EmpowerMe Wellness.

The new diagnostics lab is a major component of EmpowerMe’s recently launched integrated services model, which is the first in the senior healthcare industry to provide a full range of on-site therapy, pharmacy, diagnostic, and primary care services to senior living communities nationwide.

“Our nation’s aging population is demanding better delivery of health and wellness services. At the same time, there is a growing need for new technology-enabled strategies to support value-based and outcome-driven care programs in the senior housing and care marketplace. EmpowerMe Wellness’ model addresses these factors simultaneously,” said Stevens.
